Cross Breeds

Is there any dog birth control currently for sale on the market? If so what is the name and where?

Seruous answers ONLY please. They were patenting it and it was fetured on several news shows a long time ago. I need to know if it available yet. Seruous answers ONLY please. 11. Currently on the market is sold by your veterinarian. I believe they call it "spay, and neuter surgery". It's very common now a days. Never have to worry about unwanted pregnancy, cancer, etc. It's a great deal.
  12. Zoos use a form of birth control so that they can control populations of captive bred animals without permanently altering them in case the animal is engandered or needs to be bred at a later date, but I don't know that this is available to the public for pets. There is a kind of shot that a vet can give a dog to interrupt her heat cycle, but the last that I heard, it was not reccomended if you ever planned on breeding her in the future as it could cause health problems and difficulties with the puppies. Honestly, and this is a serious answer, you really should just get your dog spayed. Going into heat, even if she doesn't breed, can result in germs and bacteria entering her uterus and a very serious, life threatening infection. If she breeds and gets pregnant, complications from the pregnancy and/or delivery could kill her, such as eclampsia or a puppy getting stuck in the birth canal. Both will result in vet bills higher than the cost of simply spaying her before all this has a chance to happen would. Also, spayed dogs are less likely to get breast cancer, and can't get uterine cancer. Also, spaying means she won't bleed every six months or so and leave spots and stains on the rug and furniture and she will have a more stable, happier mood. Unless you have a champion dog, which isn't really likely if you are asking about birth control here, spaying is the most responsible and best way to go here. If you don't have the money right now, keep her away from all male dogs, don't even leave her unattended in a fenced in yard, and go ask your vet how much it would cost to spay her, and if he/she would be willing to let you give them $5 to $10 a week until you have enough on credit there to cover the cost. Or go to the nearest Humane Society or ASPCA and find out if you are eligible for any sort of discounts or waivers to help with the cost of spaying her. If you love your dog, this is the best way you can show it.
  13. you can spayed her but when my dog went in heat my vet gave her a shot so she couldnt have puppys
  14. Ok - you've heard all the obvious....spay and neuter. What is the real reason you are asking this question? Are you thinking about potentially breeding in the future and just want to hold off? If you are, give serious thought as to why you want to breed. If you are want to do it for the money, then stop right now. There is no serious money for anyone who does it to help further the breed. And if you don't care about furthering the breed, and only in it for the money, then please stop. There are too many "accidents" out there looking for homes.
