  1. Maybe this will help. http://rainforests.mongabay.com/0801.htm I also know that rainforest are being cut down to make space for grain fields (for ethanol production).
  2. Hey. Rising in temperatures are causing a big impact on tropical rainforest especially for the creatures and animals living in them. Us humans are very good at adapting to different environments, but these animals aren't. Even the slightest change in temperature can be catastrophic for them. Cutting down trees are ruining animals habitats and also getting rid of ways of oxygen for us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_Rainforests
  3. In the last 300 years half of the worlds forest have been exchanged for concrete, tar and mono culture farming. And some places have become deserts. In the last 50 years alone about half of the wetlands ,and rain forests have gone. And of course so has everything that lived in them . About 3000 species have gone in the last 50 years alone. We are witness to the first mass extinction since the days of the Dinosaurs. Rain forests like the Amazon are huge and the destruction is not overall , The northern Amazon is practically untouched But other parts are getting devastated. An area the size of Switzerland each year check the clock for daily destructions http://www.poodwaddle.com/worldclock.swf we can hardly stop it from happening the forces in motion from the civilized world are very strong the need for food and space http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqJFFcYRtdMxdRbQF3zcdunsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070420125734AAbaPDU and now fuel http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuyumW3AfMdnVGUB7zEuDq3sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070618163201AAyuI69 There is a BBC series called -Planet Earth .by David Attenborough, about 15 movies I recommend all of them ,but watch the ones called the future and jungles and Forests ,to have a clear view of what is going on. you can download them easily in a program like ARES What Eva says is exactly right
