What should I do with my Dolls and Stuffed Animals from Childhood?

I just graduated from college, and have been trying to remove clutter left over from childhood. What should I do with my stuffed animals and dolls? I know I should get rid of them, because they take up space, and I'm too old for them, but every time I look at them, I get all teary and have all these positive associations with them, so I feel like I cant just give them to goodwill... [silly, I know] Are there any orgs that take suffed animals and give them to kids or anything? Where can I take them and not worry that they'll get thrown away [anyone read the velveteen rabbit?!?]

  1. I had read the velveteen rabbit and it actually made me cry why dont u contact an orphanage or kids hospital that would take donations ???
  2. try your local hospital and see if the pediatrics unit takes clean, used stuffed animals for their patients..... and then don't look back when you donate... it will just make you cry again....
  3. I can exaclty understand how you are feeling. I had this once. You can give it to the poor people who does not have money to buy toys or give it to the orphanage(that's what I did). It's kind of sad when you give your toys away the first few days but you will still have to face it someday. So why not give your toys away fast and let your mind think of the present than the past. But I can tell you easily, the night that my toys were given away,I cried till the next morning(it's been with me for 10 over years , got some feelings).
  4. I would definitely keep them for my future children! That's what I'm doing with my Barbie house and American Girl Dolls.
  5. I am in the same boat only with my girls animals. This is what I have came up with. Both places resend the animals to little ones in need Sounds great, bc we hate to give them away-we love them so much, yet it's time to let go. And its not Goodwill! http://www.montaloma.org/wiki/index.php?title=Stuffed_Animals <- I love that they send to other countries! http://www.projectnightnight.org/index.html <- homeless kids Good luck!
