Can I donate used stuffed animals to a hospital?

I'm getting rid of my stuffed animals and I love the idea of donating them to a hospital but it's got me thinking would they even take used stuffed animals in case of infection? I rarely take them out of my closet and I've washed them. I wanted to donate them to a local childrens hospital do you think they would take them?

  1. I think they would...i know ours would cause you washed them...you'd have to ask them though..although i wouldn't tell if they were in good condition
  2. No, the hospital will be worried about the following issues: - small parts that could be swallowed - potential transfer of infections - how to manage and keep track of these items
  3. Hospitals generally don't take used stuffed animals, for what you said, Infections rates, a lot of the kids in hospitals are getting over serious colds, or other illnesses, and they don't even allow stuffed animals from home in the room ( i know bc my daughter was sick) Why don't you try donating them to a women and children's center?
  4. That's very nice of you. If the stufffed animals are clean, I don't think the hospital will refuse them, unless it violates their policy about everything being sterile. But if they do turn down your generous offer, then try any other charities or children's homes. They will be more than happy to take them.
  5. yes i do , You have to call and ask first and if they do they will disinfect they before giving them to the children.
  6. I think that is a good idea, but you might not want to take them to a hospitol, because of what other people have said on this page. But what I recommend you do is take them to a goodwill store IF they are in good condition(NO rips, marks, broken pieces and absolutley NO MOISTURE!) Check with other people to say if they agree!
