Why does my cat eat stuffed animals?

My cat (female tonkinese) is just about 2 years old but has had a habit of carrying around certain stuffed animals. She is selective. My other female cat doesn't play with stuffed animals. She will play fetch with the stuffed animal and she gets very excited if I pick it up. When she isn't playing with the stuffed animal I will usually (90%) of the time find it next to or in the water dish. Sometimes she will bring it to bed. Typcially she takes the tail of the animal off first (hunting instinct) and then usually the front leg. I can't be sure if she is actually eating the stuffing or not. This has been going on for almost 2 years. Any thoughts?

  1. maybe if you would feed her enough real food she wouldnt take the time to eat your stuff!!
  2. lol she loves to hunt... is she a outside cat? if not she must want to hunt allot
  3. LOL the putting it in the water bowl and food bowl is she is giving it to you where you give her , her food. My cats do that all the time put their toys in the bowl, for me and hubby, we always tell them thank you. My male cat carries around babys and plays fetch too. But them putting things in the bowl its for you to tell you thank you and they love you..You must be a good parent.
  4. My cat does that too... I think mine did it because she thinks its her "baby", and even takes it outside sometimes... If your cat is actually eating the stuffing...you might want to take the stuffing out of the animals...a belly full of stuffing is never good. Some cats are just more goofy than others...its just their personality =P
  5. Some animals and not just cats get jealous for some reason and decide to take it out on stuffed animals. When my daughter is here, my 4 year old dog does the same thing. He also likes to mark his territory on her favorite stuff animals.
  6. she just want play
  7. maybe the cat thinks it's killing other animals and eating thier meat inside.
  8. My cat Tater Tot plays full on fetch. I can throw his "baby" anywhere and he will retrieve it and drop it on my lap. He also "bathes" the baby in his water fountian. I don't think anyone will know why our cats do this, but I know that it is hunting behavior. Even when I am not throwing the baby he will go across the room and stalk it, just to run up to it and throw it in to the air and make it move.
  9. KEEP YOUR ANIMALS OUT OF THE FLOOR
  10. Hmm...nope! Maybe she's retarded.
