- ever seen bad things happened to Jurassic Park?
- Yeah, there was even a movie about it. The Jurassic park! Hehehehe...What a disaster.
- You unfortunately have been misinformed. They didn't bring a tasmanian tiger back to life they merely bought a GENE of a tasmanian tiger back to life. If they actually bought a whole one back to life it would be all over the news >.> I have done the same thing, run around with "amazing" news and then looking stupid when it wasnt what i thought it was. Well it still is pretty cool!
- This story has been around for a while. With a Tasmanian tiger (Thylacene), they have a baby animal preserved in formaldehyde, and so theoretically have an available source of DNA, and other similar animals that might serve as surrogate mothers (the Tasmaninan devil is the closest relative). When Jurassic Park was released, there was some talk of 'recreating' the species from preserved remains; but that's all it was, just theoretical talk. I think there may also be ethical problems to address, as well - ever see the film 'Pet Semetery'? Funny story about thylacenes: the word is latin for 'pouched wolf like' creature. There was a Finnish basketball team, who called themselves the Thylacenes ('basket wolves'), and were amazed when they came to Australia to play in a competition, to find that everyone had heard of the thylacenes - they thought they were world famous! Edit: On tonight's SBS news, there was a report that they had grown cartilege tissue from Thylacine DNA, by injecting it into a mouse. This brought them 'one step closer' to producing a thylacine. Of course, 'one step closer' does not mean much with a far-distant goal.
- The book and movie were called Jurassic park. It could prove interesting if possible. However, as with all genetic experimentation it should be watched very closely for the potential for abuse is just a little bit short of atomic energy. However, it has not happened yet so relax and lets see what plays out.
