Why eat chickens, pigs and cows but not dogs and cats?

What is the logical reason why we don't eat dogs and cats? Logical reason... not emotional.

1. I would assume that taste and muscle mass are factors... I'm Asian, but I don't eat domesticated animals. Sorry to steal the thunder of the uncultured ones. I happen to be one of the most compassionate beings on the planet. Oh, wait... That's impossible, right?
2. Because there is a select few people that control the meat industry. Since in America (if you are here) dogs and cats are considering pets, the people in charge of running the meat industry will not try to make such a costly dive as to try to market dog and cat meat. They would end up loosing a lot of money, and no one would buy the meat.
3. In many parts of the world dogs and cats are eaten. They are raised for food. In the US and most Western countries, they are treated as pets.

5. I don't agree with this, but its because a lot of people think dogs and cats are pets and companions and that chickens, cows, pigs, etc are raised for food, nothing more. They don't take into account their feelings or the fact that they could just as well be someone's companion.
6. Too many bones? I had rabbit once, and it was extremely bony. Not fun to eat. Also, dogs and cats may be eating other animals (such as mice or rats -- yes, dogs eat those too), and so they are more likely to catch some nasty parasite and pass it on. In a starvation situation, they'd be edible, but otherwise, there are safer food products out there.
7. It's a cultural thing because Americans consider them pets. Other cultures in certain regions do consume other types of animal meat besides our big three beef chicken pork. If the dogs and cats were raised in a food farm like we raise most of our meat they would be just as safe to consume as the meat on store shelves now for those who think they're unsafe that's just ridiculous. Americans would rather disconnect from the fact their food is an animal that's why we aren't raisin our own chickens chopping their head off and plucking the feathers ourselves. We don't want to see the animal alive.
8. some countries do eat dogs and cats. There isn't anything alive that someone somewhere hasn't eaten, animal or vegetable.
