- Pictures are probably the easiest way to tell these horses apart. Standardbreds and thoroughbreds do look pretty similar since they are both racing breeds. Standardbreds are often shorter than thoroughbreds, though. Standardbreds are usually said to have an "uglier" head because their head is larger in relationship to their bodies in most cases. http://www.markhamfair.ca/images/JWC_1695_xw523.jpg < Standardbred http://ox.equinenow.com/equine/data/photos/330159_1.jpg < Standardbred http://horsebreedslist.com/horse_breed_images/110/big/thoroughbred-picture-3.jpg < Thoroughbred http://www.whitehorseproductions.com/images/TBcolor/lonhro_confo1.jpg < Thoroughbred Now, morgans are more "unique" looking. They are usually portrayed "parked out", which means with their back legs stretched out behind them. And, though some morgans do do this naturally, some do not. http://www.ansi.okstate.edu/breeds/horses/morgan/stallion.jpg < Morgan http://www.freewebs.com/sunrisecreek/Morgan%20Demo%2007%20003.jpg < Morgan Arabians are probably the easiest to pick out of this group. They are famous for their "dished" faces. Arabian horses have a very refined look; their entire bodies usually look very delicate. http://www.arabianhorses.org/images/424279.jpg < Arabian http://www.thisismyhorse.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Mercuric-640x425.jpg < Arabian
- Thoroughbreds are generally racehorses or performance horses. equinegateway.com or thoroughbredsforsale.co.uk are sites to see what thoroughbred horse looks like.
