Any airlines which allow small dogs in the cabin area from London to Chicago?

My dog is a 4.5kg (10lbs) bichon poodle and we are moving from London, UK to Chicago, USA. I would like to find an airline which allows small dogs in the cabin area, because I am worried about him being in the cargo area which is risky due to the length of the flight. Yes, we have his PETS passport updated and all of that.

  1. Only if you're a Hollywood "A" list mega-star who is prepared to buy a separate 1st class seat for the mutt. Other than that you don't have a snowball's chance in Hades.
  2. Pit is correct - animals are not allowed in the cabin on international flights unless they are service animals
  3. Lufthansa. You'll have to go via Frankfurt, Munich, or Duesseldorf, though
  4. check with these guys: http://www.petrelocation.com/frontpage/ DON'T put your poodle in the cargo please! Did you hear about Jack The Cat recently? He is not the only animal airlines have killed simply because he was considered cargo. See this (link here, the relevant info pasted below:) http://animalradio.com/010811.html Don't Fly Your Pet In The Cargo Bin The US Dept. of Transportation reports more than a dozen animals died during flights in the first 10 months of 2010. Some carriers allow small pets in the main cabin, but depending on weather and breed, most ride in the cargo area. Enter Pet Airways, which just added Mesa Arizona, as it's sixth hub. More than two million pets a year travel in the cargo holds of planes, but Pet Airways puts the animals in the cabin, in crates, but in the main cabin, which is just for pets. The cabin holds 19 pet passengers in a Beechcraft 1900 twin-engine airplane, which is usually used for corporate and government transport. Earlier in 2010, seven puppies died after flying in the cargo hold of a commercial airline from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Chicago. Pet Air was founded by two people whose Jack Russell Terrier had a very bad experience flying in the cargo of a commercial liner and has been flying animals for over 18 months.
