- Would help if we knew alittle about Wat u already have.
- Then how about a specific question about what you ARE looking for? I could write my own essay here on the subject, but since you can't, neither can I. When asking other people to do YOUR homework, it might be helpful to be specific, or here's another idea - stop expecting others to do the work for you and look up some facts of your own
- Have you covered BYBs and puppy mills and what they are doing to society and what affect that is having on shelters .And if the BYBs and puppy mills were put out of Business there would be a drop in Euthanasia poorly bred dogs and health problems . Have you covered what goes into genetic testing and why its done and why genetic testing is so important to breed out heredity conditions and things like Hip dysplasia . Have you compared mixed breeds that are not health tested and why this is important in getting a genetically sound dog . Probably rambling here ,but its just an idea. Have you covered why its important for BYBs and puppy mills to be put out of Business for the poor quality cross breeds and pedigree dogs that they breed.
- 1. All dogs have a pedigree whether purebred or mixed as a pedigree is nothing more than a family tree. Even plants have a pedigree. Mixed breed dogs have a Sire and Dam just the same as a purebred dog, but their ancestry is not recorded with a purebred registry. 2. There are just as many poorly bred purebreds in the world as there are mixed breed dogs, as purebred doesn't mean the same as well bred. 3. Back yard breeders do not do genetic health testing, whether breeding purebred dogs or mutts, therefore it is a myth that ALL purebred dogs are healthier than mutts, or that mutts are healthier than purebred dogs. 4. ALL purebred dogs were bred for a specific reason whether it be to herd, guard, hunt, or just be a companion lap dog of the rich and famous. Mixed breed dogs are not bred for a purpose and are the result of back yard breeders who solely breed for money or have *claimed* to have an oops litter. 5. It is a myth that certain purebred dogs or certain mixed breed dogs don't shed and are hypoallergenic. All dogs shed, some more than others, but do shed just like humans do. ALL dogs have dander and saliva that can cause a reaction to people who have allergies to this. 6. It is a myth that ANY dog can be a good dog if it is raised and trained properly. GENETICS is the root of most of it and DNA can not be changed, but some behaviors can be modified when you know how to deal with the issue at hand. (this if for both purebred and mixed breed dogs) 7. Mixed breed dogs have no standard as to body type or predictability of temperament. Even within the same litter from the same parents, each puppy can be VASTLY different from each other. 8. Not all purebred dogs can still do the job that they were originally intended to do. Although there is still very much a need for dogs with certain traits, some breeds have been bred to have *softer* temperaments as to fit in better as a family companion and watch dog, rather than the guard dog, etc. it started out as. 9. Serious health issues are still very prevalent in both purebred and mixed breed dogs, and therefore the reason why reputable breeders of purebred dogs do genetic health testing on breeding stock as to try to weed out the issues for their breed. Any dogs that don't pass the genetic health tests should be culled, meaning culled from the gene pool by being altered and sold as a pet only. That's all I can come up with at the moment.
- Have you covered the service dog schools that frequently breed crosses to tailor dogs to their clients' needs? I don't have any good cites on it. While Labs have a huge gene pool, other breeds it is harder to find genetically diverse good dogs. Also, if none of your Goldens come in season some month, breed a few of the Labs to Goldens and you still have some dogs with the Golden personality.
- get a breed book and look at the breed defects those are there from byb breeding untested dogs, whether mixed or not. all dogs should be tested for breed defects 6 generations back then most if not all defects will be bred out and have quality dogs again very few dogs had the defects when i was a kid now a lot of dogs have food allergies and unknown allergies cause of this to me
