What is a cow bred thoroughbred race horse?

How is it different than a regular Thoroughbred? I've heard it on HRTV and TVG but they have never explained it Ooooooh, Cal breds, thanks!

1. Cow bred racehorse? Never heard it used around the track or anything. Just curious where you heard this? I've heard of cow bred horses being horses that are used for cutting cattle. Also there are Thoroughbred that can have a condition called 'calf kneed' where their front legs look like that of a calf.
2. Are you talking about.... "Cal-bred or Cow-bred? Maybe you misunderstood them. TVG would have no reason to mention a cow-bred horse. If they were covering one of the California tracks like Delmar or Golden Gate which are both running at the moment, they may have said Cal-bred which is short for "California Bred"...... ......"It pays to be Cal Bred" :- ) *** You're very welcome!..... .....Billy Ray "Meikyo"
