Why do some people make a big to-do over funny animals having pets in cartoons/comics?

A "funny animal" is basically a person in an animal suit. What is the big deal about giving anthropomorphic animal characters pets? They are "people". I think some people just want to find a reason to pick cartoons apart. Please help..

  1. Well, seeing an animal as a 'pet' to the funny animal, is strange because it upsets convention. Pets seem to have a different position than their master, and when an funny animal has a pet, it's like-- are we to believe the pet has somehow less intelligence or less thought than the master? In order to have a pet you need to look at them in a different way-- otherwise you would just call them friend or companion. Seeing a walking dog-faced human breed with a leash in its hand leading a 'pet' on its way is a little uncomfortable for most to see-- kinda asks the question, are we but dogs leading dogs? I guess if you want to go into that a little more, read the comic Elmer-- it's about chickens demanding equal rights as humans-- and getting it.
