  1. So they can tell them apart? Which one was born first, if it's a boy or a girl. It's like if you have triplets, why does the hospital put a bracelet on them?
  2. Most breeders put ribbon around puppies' necks right after birth so that the pups can be told apart reliably. This lets them track their growth and make sure that no pup is neglected from socialization and other important things while they are too small and growing and changing too quickly to easily tell apart. Some breeder prefer to use a dot of nail polish or to clip a bit of fur off of a specific part to tell them apart, but most I know go with ribbon or miniature collars.
  3. to tell them apart, sometimes breeders already have thier dogs sold so its to mark the dog as sold and whos they are gonna be.
  4. because it means someone has put a deposit down on a male or female puppy if they pick it out the breeder puts a blur or pink ribbon around the neck of the puppy to remind them self of the fact that the puppy is already claimed or that's what a breeder told me about it
  5. so you can tell them apart.
  6. Better breeders mark each puppy one way or another in order track each individual puppy and its progress.
  7. To tell them apart. Good breeders are weighing the pups every day and noting personalities, etc and in order to track that they need to be able to identify them.
  8. Because, unlike some breeds who have different markings, you can't tell the difference! If you use a different coloured collar, this helps!! LOL
  9. its common to use different color collars or ribbons around the necks, for identification purposes. These puppies look so much alike from birth, you cant tell the difference otherwise. The breeder needs to be able to keep track of their weights, and when they get wormed/vaccinated, etc. Each puppy having a different color ribbon helps the breeder to keep track of "who is who"
  10. to tell them apart
