Does my cat have some kind of abnormality that I don't know about?

My cat will pause for a moment... he will just stop and stare. Then, he would proceed to make this fearful face and he will start running around the house. From the back to the front and again and again. Sometimes, he would cry out or he might jump on the furniture or something. I just sit there and go what the hell because he does this at least once a week. My mom says that he sees his shadow and he gets scared. Do your cat do this? Is there something wrong with my cat?

  1. Obviously,he has been smoking weed and now is paranoid as fuck. Happened to me.
  2. I don't know for sure from how you're describing it but I think it's similar to something my cat does, if I understand what you're describing then yes, it is normal, I call it the Midnight Crazies, even if my cat does it in the middle of the day.
  3. I don't know about the making faces thing but my cats regularly (not just once a week) freak out like that. It's like they get this power surge and have to work off some of their energy, they go careening around the place, they'll start chasing each other and wrestle each other (and sometimes it turns a little vicious and I have to break them up). Usually this happens when I get home from work; it's like the cats can finally relax and let loose because I'm home. Of if I've been home all day and open a window, the fresh air seems to set them off. Since cats sleep so much, I think they just have to work off some of their pent up energy. In the wild they'd be using their climbing, stalking, running and jumping skills all day but when they are confined indoors for a long time, they just need to zoom around.
  4. This is normal, particularly if the cat is young. Cats tend to entertain themselves by fighting invisible dog ninjas and invading moths. In my house we call this catbob-omb, and it happens a lot more than once a week.
  5. Your Cat might be seeing a Spirit or it just might see a Mouse or a Small Bug/Spider! I wouldnt worry about it too much! Good Luck and GOD Bless!
  6. My cat does the same thing, and she's a few years old. Animals such as cats and dogs, much like children, are far more susceptible to paranormal activities than we are. So, it is likely that they are seeing a spirit passing through, or something of the like. But, there's no way to be sure if this is the case. So, that being said, don't go freaking out and call an exorcist to come and cleanse your house of 'evil beings'. There's no proof that it is a spirit (as it may just be a shadow or a bug that makes him do such), and if it is, it likely does not want to cause any harm or it would have done so by now. Your kitten/cat making it's fearful face can come from being unable to recognize the face of the spirit or just the mere knowledge that is it something paranormal and surreal. There's nothing wrong or abnormal about your cat. He may just be feeling playful. :]
  7. Hi, I am a cat shelter worker and have owned many cats over the years, and seen this many times. If your kitty is eating pooping and peeing normally and the behavior hasnt changed in any other way, and especially if he is fairly young, he is playing. I call it the Mad Cat Dash, they go from the coffee table to back of sofa to floor to back of chair.. around and around for a few minutes or some times around fast like that just on the floor. If you have more than one cat they somtimes join one another. If everything else with your kitty seems ok, it is just cat exercise and play. (otherwise take it to the vet as constant hyperactivity can be a symptom of illness). Good luck and blessings.
