Who has a fear of DOGS, and why?

Alright, so ever since I was little, I always had this fear of Dogs. Any type of dog would get me nervous, if i ever see a dog on my way to somewhere - I would walk on the other side of the road - just to avoid it. Even as a 21 year old, Male, that's my one of my biggest fears. So my question is... Who's scared of Dogs and why? Why do you think people have a fear of Dogs? 2. my friend was attacked when he was ten by a brown dog and his mind will run wild about all the hurt he'll get whenever he sees a dog. now he owns a dog.
