- In India, we cannot say.
- No, not at all... There are thoroughbreds, quarter horses, arabians and even mules that are raced on the track. And don't forget about standardbreds which are used in harness racing...... ** Thoroughbreds race anywhere from 4 1/2 furlongs up to 1 1/2 mi...quarter horses usually 440 yds or less...Arabians up to 6 furlongs or less and mules will sprint 350 - 400 yds..... Just for your info: (There are 8 furlongs in a mile, so, each furlong is 1/8 mile). ....Billy Ray "Meikyo"
- Racing isn't confined to just Thoroughbreds. Other breeds like Quarter Horses, Arabians, and even Appaloosas are also raced- it just depends on the track and the location, that's all. Harness racers are Standardbreds, which is yet another breed, and in Europe there are still more breeds which race, such as the French Trotters, for example. In England, there are pony races which kids compete in- there have been a number of top British jockeys who started their careers as kids riding in pony races. America doesn't have this, because we don't have large herds of semi-wild ponies roaming the countryside the way the British do.
