- I think of tail wraps as the strips of cloth plaited into the tail hair. I first saw then on the snuggy hoods website but they seem to have gone. They are left in for longer then the others and as well as keeping the tail clean in protects the tail against breakage. Must be kind of heavy though and not a good idea in summer when the horse need a fly swot. http://alliedwestminster.shopkit.net/products/302/images/tail_wrap_01.jpg Tail Bandages: Help lay the tail hairs flat at the top of the tail, most effective if the tail has been pulled. It is only used on the top 2 3rds of the dock. It's also helps keep a plaited tail neat and gives some protection to a horses dock during travel (some horses lean on/rub it.) #http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHf_C8FrHcPq-OSjpg2ztFR8iAZnwQfiHUy_aU4r3Ao-jCQsgQgQ Tail guard: Gives better protection during travel. It can be used over a bandage. You can also get ones that are hi-viz to help be seen. The better one stay up on there own but some need to be clipped to a rug. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRhkV1BG8RKPp2mLJnDCbuUZXBEELrdVrRhf93WbkXMP3TOZcs9http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR3giuthBLJipbKuL3fi0UNW3M7CfSl3qI4HJIk10IEb09kJtA7Vg Tail bags go over the end of or the whole tail to keep it clean. Some are attached to a tail guard, some tie on below the dock. You can also put the tail in a stocking and bandage over it.
