What parts of Colorado have wild horses?
I might be going to CO. soon and I would LOVE to see some wild horses. Please tell me where they can be found other than in herd management areas. If you don't know of any other places I'd like to at least know more about the herd management areas. Thanks so much! Yes there are wild horses in Colorado :P

- western Colorado
- There are 4 main herds, and they all reside on the Western slope. Carol Walker (http://www.livingimagescjw.com/) has said calling the offices and asking how to see each herd is the best way to find them. Phone numbers can be found at the bottom of the second link. http://www.mustangs4us.com/Adopt%20Section/colorado.htm http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/BLM_Programs/wild_horse_and_burro.html
- I'm not an expert in horses, but I've seen wild horses once in the Southwestern part of Colorado heading towards the four corners. It's about 35 miles from Cortez, Colorado. Great luck finding any!!
- WILD? I don't think there are. There are plenty of stables and trail ride horses, dude ranches, and the like.
- Southwest is horse country. Only mountain goats, bighorn sheep, elk, and mule deer can survive through the winter in the Central Mountains. Even a few people freeze to death each winter.
- They have wild horses in Cheyenne, San Antonio, and Santa Fe. But Garth Brooks makes no mention of wild horses in Colorado. http://www.123video.nl/playvideos.asp?MovieID=575488
