What is the movie about the Iditarod where the dog owner has health issues and the dog dies at the end?

No, it's not Balto.. No, it's not Snow Dogs.. It's not Disney as far as I remember. I watched it in 3rd grade (11 years ago) relatively sure the dog dies at the end. That or the owner does. Not even 100% sure it's a movie involving the Iditarod per se, but it most definitely has sled dogs in it.

1. There was one called "Iron Will" I don't really remember the story since I was a tiny kid when I watched it.
2. That film was based on, believe it or not, Lassie. Now Lassie Come Home, of course, was a classic in its time. Modern training methods have allowed dogs to act more freely with less effort than in by gone days. The film itself you ask for is "Muskie's Blues" based on a real dog in the Brooklyn Heights area who is alive to this day as I last heard.
3. I say this movie called "Hachi: A Dog's Tale" The owner died and the dog always waited outside for the owner to show up.. It's really sad!
