- It is true. Some insurance companies limit or decline insurance for certain breed owners. Dobermans and pit bulls are among the breeds i see from time to time here with problems.
- Chris, Many companies have underwriting rules that prohibit certain breeds. The breeds on the list will vary from company to company but you can be pretty sure a "Dobie" is going to make it on all of the lists. If you are already insured you might be OK unless the company periodically inquires about pets you own. You might also have an issue if an adjuster happens to come out to the house. They would likely report the existence of the dog to the underwriter. And, of course, if the dog bites someone you can kiss your insurance goodbye.
- Some companies will not insure your home if you have a doberman or pit bull or some other breeds. . For details call your agent.
- Yes, every insurance company I have ever worked with, has had a "prohibited breed" list of dogs. I've heard State Farm does NOT have this, but I've never been a State Farm agent, so can't speak from personal experience. Typically, dobermans ARE on the prohibited breed list for most - but not all - insurance companies.
- homeinsurance.awardspace.us - try this one. Got my home insurance from them. As I know they provide such a service.
