Why do my cats make funny noises with their throat and seem like they are gonna be sick?

And after wards they're not even sick? What is wrong with them?

1. Nothing is wrong with them. It sounds like it is just something stuck in their throats and the sound is their coughing. Our cat does it from time to time and we've never been worried about it.
2. he could have a tiny hairball or a really fail purr or... maybe something was tickling his throat
3. its probely a hairball my cat does it all the time but dont be that fooled because they sometimes will get sick and does your cat do it when when it smells Perfume or just wakes up to fast because it might be gaging my cat does that especially then
