How do our cats know when we're almost home?
The cats will be in the room with me and their ears will perk up or they'll pick up their head and just pause like they're listening or anticipating something.. 2 minutes later my sister or mom will walk through the door. It never fails.

- My cat does the same thing. When my dad turns on the street comming home, my cat must hear the truck, because he runs to the windows. I think that after a while of living with you, they recognize the sound of your vehicle. Cats have better hearing than humans anyways, so that is probably why he could hear your sister or mother comming. And another thing, my dog used to remember when my bus came and he would run down the street and greet me when I got off of the bus. It was so cute! I guess Animals just pick up on our scheduals and other things after living with us for a while.
- Cats are smart, and they don't miss much. They spend all their time at home, so they get to know all the sounds better than you do. They hear the engine of all of the cars driving up and down the street, and they all sound a little different. Your cats know from experience which ones they hear just before your mother or sister arrive, and pretty soon they connect the two events. And if they always come home around the same time every day, that's another clue for the cats.
