Has anyone ever died while racing in the ideroid(alasken dog sled race)?

You know the famous dog race in Alaska! Has anyone ever died or disappeared while racing on the trail?

2. Absolutely....NOT! Once in a while a musher may lose the trail and become disoriented or off track, but the race is too closely watched....both from the ground and from the air, and is now even tracked with GPS and satellite systems. Check points are frequent and closely supervised and EVERY musher and EVERY dog is accounted for. Veterinarians are posted at every stop along the way and all dogs are monitored for any reason to be pulled from the race. This year's race is hampered by "kennel cough" and a lot of dogs have already been pulled and a number of potential winners have scratched rather than subject their dogs to needless suffering and risk. No doubt, the mushers are champs, but the REAL champions are their dogs and they know it. They take it very hard when anything happens to the dogs.
