Has anyone died while trying to finish the ideroid dog sled race?

You know the famous dog race in Alaska! Has anyone ever died or disappeared while racing on the trail?

1. well... i'm guessing a few might have cuz its mighty cold up there. also *iditerod* or something like that
2. Probably, in ice cold weather, with only a pack of dogs.
3. its amazing that no mushers have died or been lost on the race. Sadly that cant be said for race officals or staff.
