- It takes a while. Be patient. We found an orphaned kitten with ringworm (fungus) all over her body. The end of her tail was naked (like a worm). It took a while to get rid of the fungus, and it took several more months for the fur to grow back, but now she has a nice coat and looks completely normal. Since Main Coons have longish hair, it will take a bit longer to all grow back. Really bad ringworm can leave scars (where hair won't grow), but usually there is enough hair on the adjacent skin to cover these scars. If there's no hair growth at all, though, a visit to the vet is in order to make sure that the fungus is completely gone.
- Have the vet take another look. The hair should be coming in by now.
