Cross Breeds

What color horses do you think get the most attention in the ring?

Where I live everyone gushes over the horses that are classic chestnut with 4 white sock and blaze, and the horse that is all all white or any Friesians. Where you live in your opinion what color combo horse does everyone gush over? The judges wow at Pinto colored horses that have super clean patterns!

  1. idk white? lol
  2. Solid colours the most I think. With socks or small markings.
  3. As generic and obviously "preferred" show horses for english OR western seems to be Chestnut or bay, mainly because they are so commonly bred, and are way more abundand, (not to mention easier to come by when looking for a calm show horse), more unique colors that catch the judges eyes are pinto paints, overos, roans (blue roans are gorgeous), and any kind of multicolored horse with BRIGHT CLEAN contrast. I really love seeing grays, with dark dark gray mane and tail, and lightgray bodies. it really depends what kind of show you are at, whether its appearence or performance, i dont think color is really going to pursued them to pick YOU over someone with a bay or chestnut, but you will definitely catch their eye if you have a unique colored horse, and if you have the SKILL as well, extra points to you! Ive noticed here in illinois, at 4-h shows, they love chestnuts as well, but bright colored paints and cremes are also very popular. :] hope this helps! remember, its not about the color :P
  4. I mostly trail ride, but when I do show or out on the trails, people always seem to love my black and white paint horse. The one in my profile picture. Idk why, hes just a normal paint, but people always say hes pretty and ask if he is for sale. And his confo sucks so I know when they say hes pretty the mean his color.
  5. The one with the best rider, and best gaits are my favorites!
  6. i <3 white horses and black horses and and white horses and black horses and pie.
  7. Personally I love an all black horse. My mare is an all black quarter and she gets a lot of looks. Around here blue and red roans are very flashy as well as perlinos and grey-paints.
  8. Where i live the pinto coloring is VERY popular as is a very solid but healthy bay. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.horsechannel.com/images/tab-images/horse-news/apha-show.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.horsechannel.com/horse-news/2008/06/21/world-championship-paint-horse-show.aspx&usg=__P2BA9Rqm6Cc1D_Wa5-p-5tGaKYM=&h=230&w=250&sz=73&hl=en&start=11&sig2=hTaAQvIOWCZGJ4yWFv-PqA&zoom=1&tbnid=86YDfAF0SwW7qM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=127&ei=o15oTe7gMZCosQOV05ynBA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpaint%2Bshow%2Bhorse%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1041%26bih%3D406%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C277&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=291&vpy=118&dur=78&hovh=184&hovw=200&tx=132&ty=120&oei=m15oTcuuB4GssAPh7eCoBA&page=2&ndsp=13&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:11&biw=1041&bih=406 http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://image44.webshots.com/44/1/3/3/360010303OBcLQl_ph.jpg&imgrefurl=http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1360010303066663583OBcLQl&usg=__FS5eU2zNM_3FgrOQvJWRYpr1q7Q=&h=800&w=533&sz=67&hl=en&start=0&sig2=D7QKDeID9eKkMxjYd9PM9Q&zoom=1&tbnid=_7gMjZLsPoleUM:&tbnh=126&tbnw=87&ei=A19oTbDROY62sAPWgcWmBA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dclassic%2Bbay%2Bhorse%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1041%26bih%3D406%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C42&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=118&vpy=36&dur=93&hovh=275&hovw=183&tx=87&ty=260&oei=-15oTb_cGIa6sQOk8OWoBA&page=1&ndsp=11&ved=1t:429,r:5,s:0&biw=1041&bih=406 I live in CO btw
  9. i think that a flashy paint, black and white paint, or a *sparkling* dappled grey, or a black horse with 4 stockings and a blaze. but i think that any horse that is groomed to the hilt, and looks stunning look amazing. hope this helps ♥
  10. Palomino Paint or Pinto
  11. The ones here who get the most attention are the ones with great presence, conformation, coats and turnout. It's not much to do with color. They are all beautiful.
  12. Flashy pintos, leopard spots, and horses with four high whites.
  13. I personally enjoy dark grays, dark colors like a liver chestnut or a dark bay, black, and minimal overos and tobianos. I am personally attracted to the striking dark colors with quite a bit of chrome.
  14. Where I come from, you'll see hundreds upon thousands of chestnuts with stockings in the rodeo arena, and they are beautiful (I have nothing against chestnuts I actually have a chestnut myself and he is sooo pretty), but everyone has seen so many of them that they are used to that color. So, when a splashy colored pinto or Paint horse gallops into the arena, they really stick out. Next to all the chestnut, sorrel, black, and bay horses at the rodeo, buckskins and blue roans make quite an impression too. I don't see many Appy's at the rodeo, but believe me, they are noticed. But I would say Paints are the most popular of the wild-colored pretty horses. They are gushed over sometimes haha... I love riding my pintos and Paints at the rodeo!!! Nothin like a pretty horse that rides good lol
  15. Well it mostly depends on what events you do and what colors you like. Usually in an English style show, the dapple grays or pure black horses get the most attention. Chestnut and bay horses, given the right conformation and the correct rider, are always classic attention getters in any style of show. In Western shows, some popular colors are, as you said, Chestnut with four socks and paints/pintos. A more rare colored horse, the buckskin, is pretty popular also. Blue-eyed paints of any color will command the attention of anyone at the show, due to the rarity and neat characteristics of a blue eye. But be careful with those blue-eyed horses, they can become huge turn-off if they aren't professional. The blue eye with pink skin around it will not be as inviting as a blue eye with darker skin around it. I personally always gravitate towards the dapple horse when judging English and I absolutely gush over a palomino in the Western area.
  16. There's a joke at my barn that all the girls and our two trainers have that we always want the big, white jumpers. Every time we see them at shows we always kid we're gonna buy one... and then our trainers finally did! It's just cause you always see the bays and chestnuts at the shows so white really stands out. And they're just gorgeous.
  17. A Deep Red Sorrel with a star. Or an sorrel overo.
  18. I love a dark seal brown or black horse. If you're interested in learning about equine coat color genetics, may I suggest this game? http://www.huntandjump.com/clickit.php?affid=39919 It's tons of fun and educational!
  19. any flashy color, like paints, paliminos, pintos, ect. the more markings the better! the judge will notice the horse first, so make a good impression.
  20. well paints usually get attention from not only the fans but the judges too! black and white is my personally favorite color paints. and grooming your horse before show is good too. even if it is a speed show. give your horse 1 egg and your horses coat will be thin and shinny.
