- there's no proof that mixed breeds live longer giant breeds tend to have short lifespans because of the stress on their joints and organs.. a cross of 2 giant breeds cant be expected to live any much longer... 7-8 years is typical for giant breeds.
- approx 10 years if healthy check both breeds and guess from that small dogs live longer than big dogs, nothing about mixes living longer.
- Please don't call it a 'Saint Dane.' It's a MUTT, nothing more, nothing special. There is nothing that says crossbreeds live longer, so the expectancy of a great dane is about 9 years, and the expectancy of a St. Bernard is about 8, so expect somewhere between 7-10 years.
- Cross breds do NOT usually live longer. That is a misconception. As for cross breds they aren't from responsible breeders, the parents very rarely have any kind of health testing, the pedigrees of the parents aren't researched for health & longevity and the parents aren't of breed standard. A well bred purebred from a responsible breeder can live a healthy life for 10 or more years. It is not unusual at all for a well bred Dane to live into it's teens...I would imagine it would be the same for a Saint Bernard...since this is a cross bred from an irresponsible breeder then more then likely 8- 10 would be the average.
