- A kitten is a kitten. Feed it premium kitten kibble and lots of fresh water. Make sure it sees the vet for shots and a microchip. Have him neutered no later than the age of 6 months. Enjoy.
- These cats get big. They are as loyal as dogs. In fact they often follow their owners around. Ours used to follow my daughter to her friend's house up the street and wait to walk with her home. They are hunters and better off able to go outside. They usually tollerate other animals. Remember to brush at least once a week to keep him from getting hairballs. Feed him well and have regular vet check ups.
- Just some trivia. It's rumored that Marie Antoinette had cats and had them shipped to America before her execution. They bred with local cats resulting in Maine Coon cats.
- Yeah, maine coons get huge... If its pure maine coon, it could weigh anywhere from 15-25 pounds, though they can be smaller... they're very very loving and affectionate, though as a kitten a maine coon is very playful. they're so loyal though, it's like having a dog almost =P I have two half bred maine coons - though you can hardly tell, they're both huge... they sleep at the foot of my bed every night, they love to cuddle and play... if i'm ever sick, they sit with me. =] when i got pregnant, they started being defensive to people around me. they both play fetch, they chase their tails haha... very playful cats if you give them plenty of attention everyday. =] if its a long furred maine coon, they usually like a nice brushing every now and then. but he will probably be frisky as a kitten haha, which is why we got two - so they could play together. good luck!
- So you went to a Maine Coon breeder, spent at least $600 to buy a pedigreed kitten and don't anything about the breed? That's a bit odd. Is this a Maine Coon kitten from a breeder or a kitten you're ASSUMING is Maine Coon? If so - sorry - you're wrong. Only way to get one is from a breeder. And people don't just go spending the money on a particular not knowing anything about them.
