Cross Breeds

are there any types of dogs that behave more like cats?

like, is there any types of dogs that dont require a walk every day, and dont require help/attention almost 24/7.. and are independent like a cat..? or do all dogs require a walk every single day?

  1. No get a cat
  2. No. Get a cat.
  3. If you're asking about what they require from you as far as care and attention, NO...if you're looking for something independent, choose a cat. (ALL dogs require daily exercise and interaction...they're pack animals and don't do solitary well like a cat.) If, however, you're asking about dogs that have more feline tendencies...the Shiba Inu is very cat-like from mannerism to cleanliness.
  4. U IDIOT OF COURSE NOT! CATS ARE STUPID JUST LIKE U!
  5. There are independent breeds of dog - yes. ALL OF THEM require daily walks. All of them require daily training and socialization. All of them require daily maintenance of their coats. If you are willing to put in the time and effort dogs require EVERY SINGLE DAY, the most independent dog breeds are (in my opinion) Schnauzers Cattle dogs Dalmations Shiba-inu
  6. ALL living things require attention and help at one time or another. So if your life is fine as is I would not suggest a dog or a cat, fish or even a plant. But I think you would be amazed what can be gained by sharing/adding to your life. Take care XXXXXX
  7. no all dogs need work and attention. the closest thing you can get to a low maintenance is an older dog. They dont need as much walking or exercise but they can have heath issues and still need constant watching and care. I suggest getting a cat instead. Dogs are not an independent animal they thrive off human attention and help.
  8. If you do not have the time to take care of an animal, you should not be on here asking about them.
  9. There are certainly independant breeds of dog. Many of the Spitz breeds are quite independant, and the more cat like dogs include the Shiba Inu and the Basenji. However- all dogs require daily walks. Cats still require exercise, they are just much better at entertaining themselves. Usually the more independant breeds are very difficult to train, and may not be particularly social with people or other animals. The breed with the smallest exercise requirements is the Greyhound- but they still require a 15 minute walk each day. This breed is generally quite lazy and the dogs tend to be couch potatoes.
