I just adopted an alaskan malamute and i got a question?

We put some food in bowl outside and he just flipped it and buried it in the snow anyone know why he did this he didn't eat any of his food either but other owners said he ate the dog food we've been giving him. So anyone can help me?

1. He may be just getting used to his new home, its probably just a phase. When he gets hungry enough he will eat the food, and because he likes it (as his other owners said he ate it) he will continue 2 eat it
2. It's a survival tactic, he's burying the food so that nobody can take it from him. He'll eat it when he's ready
