Cross Breeds

What are things to watch out for when looking for a Pit Bull puppy?

I have been looking at getting a Pit Bull Puppy, I have been researching the breed and it seems to be the best match for me and my family(I do know that each dog is different and may differ from breed standard) Thing is I am worried that I will end up with a poorly bred puppy with aggression issues, or other in-bred issues. What are things to watch out for in breeders, the parents, and the puppies?

  1. Dog aggression is a normal and accepted trait. Human aggression is not tolerated. 2. Know how big they are supposed to be pit bulls should weigh between 30 and 60 lbs. Never buy from a breeder who won't let you meet the parents or wants you to meet them in a parking lot. This is a bad breeder as the dogs are hippos not pits http://www.ultimatebluepitbulls.com/ This is a good breeder http://www.caragankennel.com/ A good breeder will have show titles for their dogs and proof of health clearances and will be UKC registered. 3. Always meet at the home of the breeder and make sure you see both parents . see were the puppies have grown up and make sure you get as much info on there bloodline from the owners. Pet the parents and check for any aggression signs in them. make sure the parents or the puppies have had no medical problems that can be transmited to other dogs or humans. And rememberthat even the dogsthat have been bred to fight such as the pitbul should be handled and introduced to animals and humans at a young age so that there will hpoefully be no aggession problems in the future
