  1. Its simply not harmingfull for the dog beacuse they are hairy ass dogs, collies and sheapard are.. i have a boxer and a pitbull thats all they do is wanna play in the snow for atleast 2-3 hours at a time. Dogs are naturally Deedeedee...
  2. Playing in the snow is fine if your dog likes doing so. Make sure your dog has adequate shelter from the snow/cold if he is an outside dog.
  3. I have a shepherd mix and he submerges himself in water in the dead of a New England winter. If there's a puddle that hasn't frozen over, he'll find it. He tried to jump into a partially frozen pond the other day. Your dog will be fine, just don't leave him alone outside exposed to the elements. If you're keeping an eye on him, you'll be able to tell if he gets too cold. But my guess is that with a shepherd mix, that won't happen very easily.
  4. As long as he's fit and active, don't worry. Dogs love the snow although obviously don't leave him out there lying around for too long (hours). Just make sure you dry him off when he does come in, with particular attention to ice around his pads.
  5. Not at all. German Shepard's and Collie's in particular have rather thick coats and the snow will not bother them. If it did, they simply wouldn't be rolling around or lying in it! Be sure to towel dry them when they get home or let them sleep by the fire to warm and your dog should be fine.
  6. Its fine. Just wipe his paws when he come in. Dont leave him outside all the time. I dont care how much hair he has, if its cold enough he can get frostbite. I hate when people leave their dogs out in extreme weather just because its an animal. Same with the heat.
  7. After your dog has been playing in the snow try not to let his paws get hot too quickly, like if he lays in front of the fire, because their paws can get 'hot aches' then they start biting at their pads and try to pull them off, which makes them really sore.
  8. Your dog will be just fine as long as he has a warm blanket to rub on after words so he don't freeze. I have sibieran huskies that love to roll in the snow and when they come in they rum to their bed and cuddle under the covers.
