  1. Yep... True Pit bulls are brilliant people dogs.... but can sometimes have issues with other dogs Mine is sweet as with people, and boy dogs..... she is not so good with girl dogs though... she is never vicious or rough, just tries to dominate them, which is only a problem if the other dog is a vicious dog. There is not a whole lot you can do unless you seek professional help..... mostly its just a matter of knowing this about your dog and making sure it doesn't get into a situation where there could be a confrontation with another dog.
  2. Welcome to owning a Pit- Bred to be animal aggressive, but should love every human they meet. Socialization and good training are key, but it's like asking an Aussie not to herd- You can help prevent it, but the drive is still there.
  3. maybe your dog is jealous and thinks that when you maybe stop to pet another dog it bothers him?? im not sure though he maybe just knows he is safe around you because he knows u so well orrrrr..... hes trying to protect u if its a larger dog?? i dont know much, but hope i help
  4. Do more research on APBTs. They were generally bred this way, going back decades. You can seek the advice from a professional canine behaviorist; that'd probably be your best bet. In general, he'll need a lot of socialization and desensitization training.
  5. i dont know if you can alot of dags dont like each other and they always fight but they warm right up to humans it is normal with dogs
  6. Your APBT is being an APBT. Dog aggression is very common, human aggression is not. You can try talking with a professional trainer, but often this is something that can't be trained out. Muzzle him when there is a possibility of encountering other dogs.
  7. Most likely nothing, animal aggression is always a possibility with Pits. Your Pit is being the typical pit, aggressive with dogs but lovey to people which is what they were bred to be like. You can't stop genetics. Did you not research this before get the dog?
  8. Welcome to owning an American Pit Bull Terrier (but you knew this when you did your research before picking this breed). Through training with a certified, qualified trainer (find one in your area here: http://apdt.com), they can become Dog Tolerant. But she will never love dogs like she loves people. Why training is so important: https://pawsandlearn.org/Why_Training_Important.html (Hint: It's more for you!) Is she spayed? This will help settle her, but she will still need a professional trainer. If she isn't spayed, most areas are spaying pit bulls for free due to the high numbers being killed in the shelters (for example, in Los Angeles County we kill 800 pit bulls puppies and adults per week). Find a clinic in your area here: http://www.spayusa.org. Here is an excellent link for you to read: http://badrap.org/rescue/owning.html Thank you for being a responsible owner.
  9. you can not do nothing, she or he hates other doges because they want to protect their property
  10. Your dog is of the correct temperament for the breed.Manage her carefully around other animals and you shouldn't have any problems. http://www.pitbull-chat.com/showthread.php?t=61486 http://www.pitbull-chat.com/forums.php
