I have 3 dogs and 3 cats, should I still foster?
My neighbor and I usually foster in the summer but I just added a kitten to my fur family so should I still foster??

- You should direct this question to the organization that you foster for, as they probably have a policy in place regarding such things.
- Do you still feel that you are able to adequately provide the time and energy that another animal will require? If so, then foster. If you have doubts, ANY doubts at all, then don't foster. Personally, I don't feel quite comfortable until I've got 9 or 10 animals running around my home. Other people are over whelmed with 2. How many is too many for you is a rather personal thing.
- It really depends on you. Do you still have time and energy to foster? If you do, I don't see why not.
- do you have time for any more
- fluffy aliens is right. it depends more on how much time you have to devote to your own animals and your fosters, since you don't want yours to feel left out- ever. it also depends on how well your own animals accept the fosters. I have 13 rescue cats of my own and I volunteer at my shelter and foster for them as well. There have been times this past summer when we had as many as 31 cats in the home but since the majority of them were bottle babies they didn't take up much room, just time. My own cats are very mellow and accepting of fosters. They know that the babies are not allowed to play with them or bother them and that they will be moving on soon while they (the residents) are permanent. your own will absolutely need to be kept up to date on all shots and de-worming schedule and have flea treatment. your dogs will need heartworm preventative as well. It is also necessary to have a place that you can keep a foster in isolation if needed for health reasons. Currently I am down to 14 fosters. I may have a few weeks where I don't have any and can spend some more time catching up on sleep before kitten season starts again *sigh*
- I have a little 1 bed 1 bath apartment with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 guinea pigs and people think im nuts. But it works for me and for them as well and i wouldnt have it any other way. If you feel you can take on another, I say go for it. but i agree with the person who said if you have doubts, dont do it. you dont want to be stressed and regret it. have fun!
