Is it ok to have two dogs of different breeds?
Is it ok to have two dogs of different breeds? Like a Pom and Pug? Is it safe to have two different breeds in the home or should you stick to one breed dog and get two of that breed?

- ...seriously? you probably could if you got them both when they were one so one of them could assert its dominance. If you get them when they're older they will fight for dominance that that never ends up well.
- no many people i no have 2 diffrent types of dogs it dosnt matter at all
- we have a German shepherd and a dalmatian here is pictures of them GSD:: http://cmc-manips.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2vfuao Dalmatian:: http://cmc-manips.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d302ydq
- It's perfectly safe in fact it is quite advisable.... as long as you don't start allowing them to mate.
- Why not?As long as they are compatible.Only some very large breeds do not do well with the small breeds, they are too rough with the little ones.My largest is a GSD and my smallest a toy poodle.Supervision ensures my little one's safety.
- Of course it's safe. I have 3 dogs, all of them are different breeds. Just make sure you have them spayed or neutered.
- We own a Siberian Husky and a Doberman. However, it is not recommended to ave two typically dominant breeds together, as this will cause a continueous rift between the dogs and dominance.
- It is perfectly ok as long as they are both spayed and neutered and there is no breeding plans.
- My daughter has 3 dogs all different breeds. It is entirely up to the person who has the dogs as to whether they will get along or not. If you want help, consult a GOOD dog trainer who will not train the dogs, but will train you to be the pack leader and this will enable you to have as many dogs as you want and also to have them all behave.
- Dogs have individual personalities regardless of what breed they are. It's best to select two dogs who get along and enjoy the same type of life-style. If you like lap dogs, get two lap dogs of any breed.
- It's perfectly fine! Same or different breed, they're both dogs and most likely will do well, given they were introduced correctly. (: Enjoy your dogs.
- Yes it's okay to have dogs in different breed because i know my aunt who has 3 dogs different breed
- Yeah, it's fine to have two different types of dogs. If they grow up together than when there adults they will be so use to each other, and won't fight when your not home. Most breeds get a long with other breeds, but some dogs they say don't get along with other dogs. Like a Cocker Spaniel. That could be wrong....that's just what I have read. A pom, and a pug should be fine. Cute ^_^
- Hi, Yes you can, and the reason is that they will get along. I have always had 2 to 3 dogs at a time and now I have 6, 5 females and 1 male. Usually when you get 2 of the same breed they tend to want to fight unless you get one female and one male. I have 2 Boxers, 3 Great Danes and 1 German Shepard. but again I have to watch because 2 females of the same breed some times fight although the Boxers are older and one of the female Danes is alot older so I am less concerned. But if they are the same sex and the same age some times they can fight so to your answer you can have 2 different breeds and if you want have 3. All in all you will be okay with 2 of different breeds.
- Yea. As long as they are approximately the same size and properly socialized they will be okay.
- I have 3 dogs of completely different breeds, 1 is a boxer, 1 a rhodesian ridgeback x and the other a jack russel terrier cross chihuahua. The choice is entirely yours.
