Which dog breed is better for my situation?
I live in Texas but my dog would be an inside dog except for playing etc..I take trips to Colorado every winter so they would be able to play in the snow :) Im interested in A Husky, Alaskan Malamute or a Samoyed?????

- You live in Texas most of the time though right? Maybe a Lab or German Shepherd? Or an Australian Shepherd.
- HUSKY!!!
- I had a friend that gave his samoyed away when he moved to Florida...it was too hot for that breed.
- Google message boards for that breed and talk directly to a number of people that own them. You might want to email rescues or breeders of them too just to learn all you can from the source. That's what I did before jumping in with a new breed myself.
- If you live mainly in a very hot climate I would steer clear of the double coated breeds, they suffer with the heat, and get pretty bad skin conditions (hot spots etc). There are plenty of other breeds though that fair quite well with both hot and cold conditions. Labradors and Golden Retrievers thrive in both climates, as do German Shepherds. Border Collies do quite well in both climates as well. The breeds that you are interested in are great for the snow but really struggle with the heat.
- Imo, Alaskan Malamute is the best one out of the 3 choices you gave but other than a dog's compatibility with the weather, you should also consider its physical, emotional and mental stimulation as well at grooming maintenance to keep it happy and healthy. I recommend that you watch my 4 minute dog choosing video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pxui6GMCfo that will help you in the dog choosing while considering all the important aspects so you are left with the dog breed that fits your lifestyle and preferences perfectly. good luck with the choosing!
