What are the common types of medications that Dogs are given for slipped discs in their back and pain?

I have a beagle with a slipped disc in his lower back. I took him in for x-rays and medication. I just want to make sure the medication he is receiving is the right stuff. What are the most common types of dog medications for slipped discs and pain management.

There are a number of medications approved for dogs with this condition. This type of question is often posed by people who never brought their dog to any vet in the first place, and are looking for "free" advice to medicate their dogs on their own. Free advice is potentially very dangerous.
