Who are some of the most famous horse people today?

I was wondering if you can tell me some famous horseback riding people. They can be in any category (racing, dressage, olympics etc...). can you tell me some female ones? Male ones? the horse names? some Canadian ones? and maybe Newfoundlanders (if there is any) some from anywhere in the world? Thank you :)

  4. Male riders/horse people include ( and this is a partial list) Michael Matz- 2 time Olympic silver medalist in show jumping, successful race trainer. Best known win in racing was the 2006 Kentucky Derby with Barbaro. Hugely successful as a Grand Prix rider as well, with multiple wins at major shows such as Spruce Meadows and the Hampton Classic.Famous outside the horse world for heroism following the 1989 crash of UAL's Flight 232 outside of Sioux City, Iowa. Matz walked away from that crash uninjured, and saved the lives of 4 children who were trapped in the burning wreckage of the downed airliner. Matz is a PA native- he was born in Harrisburg and raised in nearby State College. The only child of blue collar, non horse loving parents, he learned to ride at the age of 11. Married twice, Matz has six children. Bruce and Buck Davidson- The first family of American Eventing. Bruce is a two time Olympic medalist ( both gold) and a winner of multiple world and Pan American championships. He also carries the distinction of being the first American rider ever to win the Badminton 3 Day Event in that competition's history. A current leading candidate to represent the US this fall at the upcoming World Equestrian Games, along with his son, Buck ( born Bruce Jr.). Buck is a multiple winner of major competitions like Rolex, Fair Hill, Bromont, and so forth. He has been given a "bye" for the US team which is going to the WEG this fall. Steffen Peters- German born dressage rider and winner of the World Cup in 2009 with Ravel. Now a US citizen, Peters, is the US's best hope for a medal in dressage at the upcoming WEG this fall. Phillip Dutton- Australian born event rider, now a US citizen. Winner of multiple championships, including 2 wins at the Rolex 3 Day event. Is expected to be on this year's WEG team. McClain Ward- American show jumper rider with multiple international wins. Expected to be at the WEG with his main mount, Sapphire. Eric Lamaze- Top Canadian show jumper and individual gold medalist at the Olympics in 2008. Recently won the Aachen CHIO in Germany on Hickstead, his top mount. Will be representing Canada at the WEG. Ian Millar- A living legend in the show jumping community, Millar is best known for his long partnership with his famous horse Big Ben. He will likely make an appearance at the WEG on behalf of team Canada. Female riders/athletes: Margie Goldstein-Engle: Another famous show jumper. Best known for her wins at Spruce Meadows and other major shows with her horse Daydream. Beezie Madden ( nee Patton) -a granddaughter of general George S Patton of WWII fame, Beezie has become a legend in her own time in the show jumping world. Beezie was the anchor rider at the Olympics in 2008, and helped the US to ultimately win the team gold by forcing the only jump-off in Olympic history. She and her horse, Authentic, have also had multiple wins this year. Debbie McDonald- top American dressage rider. Has multiple wins with her mare Brentina. I could go on forever, there are so many famous horse people. These are a few of my favorites, though.
