Does anybody know of dogshows for mixed breeds?
Well, we got a Dorkie from a family that had to move out of Germany, and we would like to find a dogshow for him. He is 3 years old and was trained from previous owners (they told us), but never got the chance to compete and have fun. We were wondering if anyone knew of a dogshow that allows mixed breeds to compete. (We live in Germany) Also, thank you for the great answers on my previous question! A Dorkie means Dachshund/Yorkie.

- The purpose of a conformation show is to see how purebred dogs match a written breed standard. A dachshund x yorkie cross does not have a written breed standard. It is a mutt. However, mixed breeds can compete in things like agility, obedience trials, and flyball games. Check your local kennel club for more info.
- He can compete in agility and/or obedience.
- There are mixed breed obedience trials in many areas. The AKC even allows mixed breeds in many of there obedience and agility events. You might try calling some local dog trainers to see if they know of a mix breed group in your area. I'm sure both you and you Dorkie will have fun.
- I'm not sure about Germany but in the US, mixed breeds can compete in performance events in kost registries. These include agility, rally, obedience, and tracking. The AKC just opened up performance events for mixed breeds this year. As far as conformation, I've never heard of an event for mixes except for 4H members.
- There is no official Dog Show for Mixed Breeds. Your only chance is a Novelty Show, where it doesn't matter if your Dog has a Pedigree, or is a Rescue. ~ Zarago ~ P.S. I'm talking about the ones with the Classes like 'The Dog with the Waggiest Tail', 'The Best Bark', 'Most Beautiful Dog'.
