- differnt breeds n their info... http://cowboyfrank.net/fortvalley/breeds/index.htm
- im no expert on this but if you wish to name the horse yourself then you would need a filly that is very young and not broken as yet, most broken horses are already named, the temperament of said horse varies so its luck of the draw as to what you see on the day, generally you would go to a riding school and join the pony club which is a stepping stone to being able to ride horses they will teach you pretty much how to handle and deal in equine everyday situations and with the summer hols coming up you could pretty much be there everyday and learn a lot. There are loads of places on line to get bits from we started small and worked up to fall gear but its not cheap a riding hat costs from 30.00, we chose to have half chaps and ankle boots which reduced our costs down then got the jodhpurs and jackets etc but all that info can be gotten from ur local riding school. Now we are looking into buying our first horse for our 8 year old son (he has been riding for 2 years) but not without our riding school rep coming with us, they know a decent horse from a nag and they know what we could handle on our own as well.
- I would say you shouldn't get ahorse until you know about them. Horses are not just about fun and riding. Horses should only be ridden once every few days so they do not become exhausted. and they need shots ever few months, which are over 100 dollars and ever 8 weeks they need a farrier visit which is their hooves getting cut, which is again over 100 dollars depending on the size of horse. and they need hay daily, they drink up to 5-8 gallons or less a day and need a well proportioned grain intake. and you can NEVER ge4t "cheap" supplies. they are often used and dangerous because you never know about the quaity. also, you can neer get a perfect horse. you can get a mare but if adult I advise you don't rename her because she will be confused. you might want to look for the personality, a good horse can take years to find at a reasonable price. you can't just get a perfect horse, wam bam. you need to train and teach him your life style and your smell and his equipment needs to have him see it before you slap it on him. If you have never had horse experience, i would advise you go to a ridding lessons school to learn proper care before ytou bring a hors ein to a unfit enviorment. a horse is not as simple asa dog. they never not "wild" a horses natural insticnt is to run and flee when they are scared. and remember a horse needs one acre of pasture legally or he can be removed from your care.
- I would have to say please start with riding lessons/instruction. The trainer will then be able to help you learn more about horses and their care as well as finding you a proper horse. The instructor should also be able to point you in the right direction for tools/grooming supplies/tack for your horse. I would highly suggest boarding the horse at a place before you have this horse on your own. Unless someone you know can guide you through horse ownership on your own property, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. You can re-name a horse, but don't necessarily expect it to understand you. It would depend on a lot of things. Good luck, and congrates on getting your own horse.
- you need to go talk to someone with stables, see if you can help take care of their horses for a while. take some more lessons, you can never learn to much. see what breeds of horses they have.
