Why do girls like horses and ponies so much?

What is it about this animal that attracts them? I've never liked horses. I've always looked at them as any other farm animal and are about equal to a goat.

3. I'm not sure. I started liking them when I was about 5, and I've loved them ever since. I took riding lessons for about 7 years as well. Maybe it's just the way they are portrayed as beautiful, brave, majestic animals and generally are associated with freedom. Something about riding a horse just seems to make you feel sort of... free. I don't really know though. Why do guys like cars, sex, food and football..? Lol.
4. Horses/ponies have been used as riding and working animals for so long that they develop special bonds with people, typically much stronger than most other farm animals I've been around. I've never had a cow or goat treat me like a best friend or move around carefully to avoid knocking me over or stepping their hooves on my feet, but I have had horses do so. I've also never had another "farm" animal walk resting its nose on my back or get excited to see me even if I don't bring food. I'm sure some people do have other farm-type animals that do this for them, but that's been my experience. Also, horses tend to move more fluidly and gracefully that stocky and sturdy animals like goats and cows, which makes them more appealing to kids who like "pretty" things. The kids aren't unfortunately as informed about things like their rolling in the mud or kicking, etc.

6. its not just a girl thing. my husband and son ride show compete and own. I am outnumbered by men in my events. all jockeys are men half of the olympic riders are men. cowboys are men. you just have to have a wild spirit to want to ride and own 1200lb animals.
