My cat sneezes A LOT, is that bad?

I have a cat that sneezes a lot more than usual. It's usually a series of sneezes a pause and then another one. I'm not sure what to do, I thought it could be allergies or he just needs to sneeze. But it is worrying me, I feel I have to go to the vet. Does it sound like a cold? What do you think? Thanks if you comment and such (:

  3. seeing a vet would be better safe than sorry
  4. No, thats nothing wrong with him Some cats just sneeze alot :) its nothing to worry about. xx
  5. Excessive sneezing and congestion in cats are usually a sign of other ailments. If the sneezing is very frequent, go to the vet. It could be a sign of a dental infection that is affecting the cat's sinuses.
  6. Could be allergies.
  7. It's not necessarily bad. If it's a sneeze that sprays then YES that is not a good sign. If the cat is otherwise healthy, it could be allergies or something tickling the nose. My first cat sneezed at times and would spray us with her sneezes from up to 3 feet away. It didn't occur to us until she was deathly sick with Feline Leukemia at age 10 months the wet sneezing was part of her bad health. We did the humane thing and had her put to sleep. Later we adopted 2 more cats; one is a frequent sneezer, the other is occasional. The worst of the sneezing comes when they're cleaning themselves and get fur tickling their noses. Other times, they'll be playing with the frayed carpet fibers from the scratching post (especially that!) or something stringy like feathers on their toys. The one cat will sneeze SO MUCH (10 times without stopping) the poor thing can hardly catch her breath. I holler at her to catch her attention for distraction so she can catch her breath. She's 7 years old and this has been ongoing for the last 5 years at least. I figure if she's been doing it this long, she's OK. It's a little funny though because lots of times she does things to cause herself to sneeze. If this cat is new to you, check the eyes & nose for drainage. If it hasn't been to a vet yet or anytime in the past year, make an appointment to get it in soon for shots & a well-check up. Discuss your concerns with the vet. I was told my sneezers are probably allergic to something in the house. One thing that has seemed to help is changing the type of fabric softener we use in our laundry (as the vet suggested could help). IUt's helped me with my sneezing too! Best of luck!
