Why are these cats meowing at each other?

One of them is mine, he's the black one. The other one belongs to a neighbour and he's ginger. They're both adult males. Okay so basically they're being really weird around each other - they sit opposite each other outside and meow at each other. My cat will meow, there's a pause and then the ginger cat will meow back. They can do this for hours!! I've looked it up and all the webpages say that only happens when they're getting ready to fight or working out who's the dominant one but they seem to like each other - they go out of their way to find each other when they're out and they'll meow all day O_o Another thing they do is they'll lie on the pavement far apart and take it in turns to get up, walk really slowly for a few paces, then lie down again. Thanks for any info :D

  1. May be they do not like each other and want to get away.
  2. Have they been neutered? Un-neutered cats will size one another up, for dominance and any female cats in the vicinity. They would likely fight if there was a female present, for the right to father her kittens.
  3. They're probably talking about you. Damn cats...
