When are Pit bull puppies purebred?

I will buy a pit bull and i don't know much about dogs. The person is asking for $120 and said that the mom is blue nose and the dad red nose. I'm confused..That means the dog is not purebred? And also he only have the mom so i don't know who the father is. This are the puppies http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/pet/1834379273.html .Hope you can help me

  1. when both parents are pitbulls
  2. If it was and they are a reputable breeder they will have proper documents. For $120 I really doubt these people are reputable breeders. A purebred pitbull would be labled an American Staffordshire Terrier. I wouldn't start with a pitbull as a first dog.
  3. First of all do you know how many "pit bull" puppies are dying in shelters every day because people like that breed them and sell them to any home and they end up in the shelter and dead? Please do not support BYB and go to your local rescue and get a puppy there you can find pure pups and save a life. Also color of a "pit bulls" nose has nothing to do with its breed or type and is nothing special. A true APBT can have any color nose and its parents can have any color(s) of noses. Do some more research on the breed your are not yet ready to own one if you do not know the basic info.
  4. A PB is a PB. Nose color has nothing to do with anything, it's just that, a COLOR. This is a backyard breeder at their finest. Shelters are full of these dogs, so why not adopt rather than line the pockets of some irresponsible breeder.
  5. If you want purebreed then you want a UKC registered American Pit Bull Terrier, or you could look into the AKC's American Staffordshire Terrier. I know by the time I post this it will have been said 100 times, but blue nose and red nose are not breeds they are the color of the nose. Never buy a dog bred for color.
  6. No, it means that the dogs are poorly bred bully mutts. Anyone selling red nose/blue nose pit bulls is a BYB. You could get hundreds of the exact same dogs down at your local shelter for a lot less. Stay far away from this breeder. The only real "pit bull" is an UKC/FCI registered APBT from a reputable breeder.
  7. You got lots of research to do. Firstly, that is a backyard breeder. Do NOT go to her, because: 1: Reputable Breeders won't call their dogs, or ad. with "pit pups!" 2: Red Nose and Blue Nose are just the nose colours. Doesn't mean sh*t when breeding, if she brought that about when talking about the dam and sire, she is NOT good. 3: With all of that being said, DO NOT GO TO HER OR CRAIGSLIST. THEY ARE NOT GOOD BREEDERS. 4: You may think that's a good price, but it's LOW FOR A REASON. If you wanna know a true responsible APBT breeder, e mail me with your location and I will find you one.
  8. Oh, there are a lot of pure breed pits out there but they are mostly all very poor quality dogs. Especially with people breeding their pets. The only way you are going to get a quality pit is to find a Reputable breeder & pay the price for the quality. $120 will not come any where close to enough to get a quality dog. $1,200 is closer to what you need.
  9. PLEEEEESE make sure they are a reputable breeder and they are not breeding from any line of fighting dogs...make sure the mother dog looks very healthy and well cared for. The pups you are describing are purebred but if they do not have papers I would not pay $120 for them when you can go to a shelter and get one for $40...Also Craigslist is a good source to find pups. Pits are really great dogs, but when owning one please understand all there is to know I own two and the first one I had we didnt know she was pit till she was about 5 months old....she was a rescue, but is the greatest dog...after learning the ins and outs of their behavior and what abilities they have we decided to get another...They are truly wonderful as long as they are in the right hands!
  10. You have no business owning a Pit Bull @ this point. You won't want the poorly bred mongrel being advertised either. Do some research, lots of research. When you know the breed thoroughly, then consider getting a dog.Take your time to learn, then take the time to find the right dog. Here are some forums to get you started: http://www.pitbull-chat.com/forums.php http://www.game-dog.com/forums/
  11. They are pure bred when they are not petaled as "pit bulls" and people don't use phony names such as blue nose and red nose. American pit bull terrier is the breed name. No good breeders use blue nose etc its a BYB marketing scam term and some people just don't know any better. Check the shelters for APBT pups in need after you do a bit of study on the breed. Its not a breed for everyone.
  12. for one since the dog is being purchased off of craigslist your def buying a dog from a byb(back yard breeder) reputible breeders do not list on craigslist and definitely for not 120. 2 there is no such thing as a red/blue nose pit. Any reputible breeder would know that as well. Number three rather than buying from a byb and not knowing what your getting go to a shelter. Since you have to pay an adoption fee your technically buying the dog. Go to petfinder.com. there soooooo many purebred homeless American Pit Bull Terriers that would love a home. They also have puppies listed. Please don't support bybs Also when purchasing from a reputible breeder ALL puppies come vaccinated and with papers. They also don't let them go until they're at least 2mnths old.
