How to house train older cats and dogs?

My mom just threatened to get rid of the cats and dogs tomorrow because they've been peeing all over the floor. However, I convinced her to not get rid of them if I can get them to stop it or if I clean it all the time (Also, only 2 of them are doing it, but she doesn't care anymore). So, any good tips for this? They also have a doggy door so they can go outside in the backyard whenever they want to.

1. Because they are older it will be harder to house train them but it is not impossible the trick is to be consistent tell them "no" when they pee in the house and make sure they know it is not acceptable behaviour, then take them to where they should be peeing. Also make sure to praise and reward them when they do go to the bathroom outside. With the cat make sure the litter box is always clean because some cats will be outside of the box if it isn't.
