Why are English bulldog puppies so expensive?

1. They are difficulty to breed and expensive to whelp. Most Bull dogs of this kind need to have AI and cant breed naturally then on top of that they need c-sections to deliver the pups because their heads are too big to be whelped naturally! Litter size is small too. So they are an expensive breed!
2. One if the biggest reason to their high price is the way they are born. Most bulldogs are delivered through a C-Section. Because of their large heads, many puppies get stuck in the birth canal, making natural birth a risky process. That being said, there are still MANY bulldogs that deliver naturaly and have no problems. Most breeders, though, chose to do the birth surgically, and this price gets put in to the price of the puppies
3. Well, because of the way they are conceived. They need to be brought out by C-Section because of their head size, which can cost a lot! Also,added with my personal opinion, they are just super cute! :P
4. they shouldn't be so expensive, they should be on-par wih other breeds (assuming ur looking for a pet dog and not a show dog) thing is, people love bulldogs, and other ugly dogs such as pugs, therefore petstores see this as an opportunity to jack up the prices to 1000, maybe 2000 dollars or more. What you have to do is stay away from the shops, search for a breeder near you (not hard to find one at all) and you will find bulldogs and any other breed for under 1000 dollars easily

Its costly to breed quality dogs anyways.. with shows to proove quality, and all the genetic health tests. they are difficult to breed.. they often require Artificial Insemination.. which does not always take! Its costly to collect and store semen to use. Because of their body shape, they often require cecarians as well, which can also be costly. Figure in small litters, the costs put into producing the litter.. that is why they are so expensive. I dont see how someone can say they should be "on par" with other breeds.. they are a popular breed, I see alot of people asking for them.. but they are difficult to breed.
