  1. Try to find and english bulldog rescue! then they are free!
  2. They are expensive because the mother dogs cannot have them normally. The mother dog has to have a c section to deliver her puppies in most cases.
  3. I think is because the difficulty of breeding them. Bulldogs have a very big head and for dog females is really hard to push the puppies through the birth canals, so they require Vet assistance, and Caesarean section when giving birth. a lot of the puppies die at birth. Another thing is that the Bulldog is a very unhealthy breed, so you don't only spend tons of money getting one but taking care of one too!.....
  4. They are very expensive because they are difficult to breed and have a lot of medical expenses. It's a great way to put your vet's kids through college, LOL!! Most cannot mate by themselves because they are high in the rear and low in the shoulders. Human help is required. Very few can give birth on their own; most are delivered by C section. You would find an American bulldog much healthier, more athletic, and endowed with all those bulldog traits. They are the bulldog in its original form before they were bred to Pugs to make a show bulldog (English bulldog). They are a lot cheaper than the prices you quote and readily available in many southern states.
  5. They always need a C-Section to have pups and then they only have a few and because of the surgery needed they have to wait much longer before their next litter..
  6. english bull dogs are expensive because 99% of them have to be delivered via c section. this can get very costly. i think they have a lower birth rate than other breeds and most have small litters on top of that so they are in higher demand. most bull dogs that i have met are very well bred with champion bloodlines which again makes them worth more.
  7. The reason Bulldog (no such thing as ENGLISH Bulldogs) puppies are so expensive is because the puppies heads cannot fit through the birth canal which means the mother will have to have a Cesarean Section. Also, Bulldogs cannot mate like a normal dog, they have to be artificially inseminated. Both of these procedures cost quite a bit of money, which is why these dogs are so expensive. Try to find a Bulldog rescue, the Bulldogs at a rescue should only cost between $100.00-$400.00.
  8. In the US, the breed is called Bulldog. They are expensive because 80-95% of the puppies are delivered via c-section. This surgery can be expensive. In addition, most Bulldog females need to be artificially inseminated. The cost to do this increases the price of the dog. Most well-bred puppies of other breeds from proper breeders are $750-$1500. Bulldogs are more expensive to breed & maintain, hence the increased price for them. If you want a Bulldog and can't afford that, then rescue could be the perfect route. http://www.thebca.org can help you further, as can http://www.petfinder.com Here's a bulldog in MD: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=15235950 And two in NC http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/showdog.pl?id=2574 and http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/showdog.pl?id=2353 One in TN that will need a special owner http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/showdog.pl?id=2582 An adorable kid in SC http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/showdog.pl?id=2394
  9. Those are reasonable prices if the animals are show titled, genetic tested, and the pups come with proper contracts. Expense is because the b*tch must be artificially inseminated and the pups whelped via c-section. Bulldog litters are few and far between when properly bred. You will not find HEALTHY for anything less.
  10. try ptting a ad in your local paper...that's where i find all my purebreds that aren't bred by kennel club breed standards...make sure you look at the parents papers for inbreeding line breeding and selective breeding...i stay away from breeders that breed relative to relative...
  11. any bulldog pup under 1500 is a scam anything over 2000 is a scam. 2000 is about average. alot of people charge more because apparently they are champ sired which is a lie because not every bulldog is a champ and any champ dog worth anything is from a show no bulldog has ever won which is west minister andything less than that is crap and not worth being called champ. the reason they run 1500 to 2000 is because they have to have c-sections which cost alot. it basically covers their expense plus profit for the owner. so really the owner only pockets not that much they dont pocket the full 2000. if you want a cheap english bulldog i would try a bulldog shelter but they are hard to fine. i'd try petfinder.com
