3. aren't there enough dogs in humane societies why buy from a breeder (whom only wants profit) why not adopt? buying pups would only prompt humanity to keep breeding more and more animals for profit. in the end most people> evidence of overcrowded animal shelters everywhere buy baby pets then when they ain't so cute no more they dump them in shelters because what have they got to lose, just buy another baby pet from breeders who only want profit. and the cycles continues, with more animals ending up in shelters, more babies being made, more money for breeder, =,( o' humanity
4. I'd also try your local animal shelter, or, if available, a golden retriever rescue group. They can be great with matching you with a great dog, as well as providing free or lost cost shots and spaying/neutering. Another possibility would be your local newspaper. However, you would really need to do your homework before deciding upon a local person or family. You definitely would need to make sure that the puppies and parents have a clean bill of health, that the place itself is in good condition, and all that stuff. We did this route with our chihuahua, and it ended up being a wonderful option. However, we had the exact opposite problem with a previous dog since it was born in a puppy mill, and ended up dying a few days later from the parvovirus.
