- I owned two growing up, they're loyal, protective, and gentle with the right training. They're also high energy, so you need a lot of time to dedicate to exercising them.
- But you already have one.... They are prone to cancer and tumors
- First of all, boxers are the best! I have two. They are prone to heart problems, cancers and skin issues but if you buy from a good breeder then those things should be known in the dogs family line. Don't buy from just anybody. There are many tests that should be run before breeding. Make sure you see the parents papers. Also, try to get one with a docked tail. It doesn't affect the health of the dog but it can be injured easily since they are hyper. White boxers tend to be def or mostly def so be careful if you go that route, our white boxer was amazing. Make sure you have a high fence, 6ft or higher. They are excellent jumpers. Training can be very frustrating, as with most dogs. Make sure you have the time and patience for this. What else would you like to know?
- Hi, Patience is the key to housetraining your Boxer. Some are housetrained by 4 months of age, but others aren't reliable until they're 7 months to a year old. Take your Boxer out to potty on a regular schedule and praise him wildly when he does his business outdoors. Crate training is recommended. Here are more info: http://xrl.us/becm3k
- I have 2 female boxers ages 1 and 5 months. they are the best dogs. so loyal and always wanting to please. but they are VERY high energy dogs that need walks daily. i personally also take mine to the dog park, their favorite place. They are dogs that always feel the need to be doing something so i crate mine when im not home cause they will destroy things in the house if not. They are very smart dogs and learn quickly with the right training. They are also VERY prone to get cancer. So at any point in your boxers life if you find a lump get it checked asap. Also they are prone to congenitial Heart Failure, usually later in like. Also they commonly get Hypothyroidism. So they are the kind of breed that need regular vet checks to make sure their health in check.
