Do shih tzu puppies get lighter in color as they get older?
We are picking a pup from a litter and 2 are a darker brindle w/ silver color at the base and 2 are slightly lighter w/ no silver underneath. Just wondering if the silver would eventually show up or stay hidden underneath. I'm worried about the silver showing through as he ages, opposed to the ones who do not have it. What's your thoughts on this undercoat of silver? Thanks

- My Shih tzu puppies had black spots now they are brown/black so yes
- For the most part, the Shih Tzu pups WILL have a change in color when they go from their puppy coat to their adult coat around 6 to 8 months of age. They usually do go much lighter in color than what you see as a puppy. From my experience, the dark brown/brindle color becomes a very pretty golden/beige color.
- My shih tzu was a golden with black mask and black tips. Now her mask is multi colored brown , tan , silver, black. Her body color is brownish undertone with black cape. So yes there is no way to know exactly what color they wil be . Light goes dark , dark goes light. Just enjoy the great personality you are getting. If you don't like the tear stains try to stay away from lighter colored faces
